Organic Clothing

The new trend these days seem to be what they call "going green". We as people have not been too aware, nor have we really cared, about what we are doing to the earth. Fashion contributes to this as well as many other things. Designers have begun to use organic cotton to make clothing. Organic cotton is free from pesticides and chemicals. Not only is this helpful to the environment, but it is also healthy for us.
Believe it or not, people have died from cotton farming due to chemical poisonings. Anytime people are dying from what we use in a fabric, something is terribly wrong. Instead of using dangerous pesticides to control the insects that inhabit these farms, they use natural prey that kill the insects.
Big companies have joined the efforts in protecting the earth as well. Nike helps by using the organic cotton to make some of their clothing. Other companies such as H&M, LLBean, and The Gap are also taking part in the effort. Way to make the world a better place. Who ever thought that fashion would be such a big part in saving the planet?

My Favorite Designer and Why...

My favorite designer would have to be, hands down, Vera Wang. I like her because I feel that she displays simplicity and fierceness in everything that she does. Her gowns are just amazing and different. Even though they are different and most of the time non-traditional, they are wearable for the every day woman. I am definitely going to have one of those gowns when I get married, whenever that is.

Vera seems to design with the everyday woman in mind. Some designers design just for a runway show and then you never really see that garment again. I know that runway shows, are just that, but some of the time I feel that a runway show should be more of a showcase for the normal woman and not some unrealistic outfit that no one will ever wear. Don't get me wrong, U love runway shows and the creative ideas that designers come up with, but sometimes the garments seem like costumes rather than every day wear.
Vera Wang, in my opinion, makes a bold statement without even doing too much. She is a designer who seems to go for a clean look. I love everything that she does as far as designing goes. I feel that she keeps that thought of everyday wear but chic in mind as she designs.
