I view fashion as an art as well as usability. Fashion is more of an art to me when I am designing because I like to bring my thoughts to life. My inspirations can sometimes come from something abstract and artistic. I also try and think about how wearable a garment is. Ultimately, someone should be able to wear your clothing. Should you be able to wear all of the clothing, or is fashion for the viewers entertainment? Many different designers have different purposes when creating clothing. Some garments come across a little costume like, while others make me go "I would wear that".
I find it interesting when designers create garments that aren't necessarily wearable but they look amazing. When I view clothing like this, I think art. When I look at someone such as Donna Karan, i think she is creating clothing for everyday wear. I design with the combination of both.
Fashion as a whole is a number of things. Whether designers use more of their artistic side of if they are trying to appeal to the everyday person, it still is fashion.

My Inspiration..

I have many inspirations that I use when I'm designing a new outfit. I know I have a long way to go, so bare with me. Anyways, I get inspired by other designers' shape, as well as colors. I get inspired by everyday people who have a great sense of style and also those who may not. I also get inspired by things in nature. I look at the sky sometimes and it has these beautiful colors that look great together. My dress, "sunset", is an example. The yellow represents the streak of sun that is left in the sky as it goes down. the blue represents the sky itself, and the orange represents the color that the sun gives off when it is setting.
My other look, is supposed to be a nude, laced dress. I'm sure that most of you have seen this before many times, but I just had to do one of my own. It can be nude colored underneath or just white and black. I was inspired by other designers because I seen it before. Every time I saw this look i felt that it needed more class and sophistication. I cant really remember which designers but i changed it around a little and tried to give it a more classy look. I thought it would be great to create a "nude" garment that is, at the same time, classy. I think I achieved it.
